Hands-On Roots Along the Maine Coast
Before purchasing Tamarack Rentals, Alison Courtois spent more than 25 years building and operating a successful local cleaning business that began with just two cottages in Ocean Park. Over time, that work grew into a large and trusted operation serving vacation homes throughout the area.
That experience gave Alison a firsthand understanding of what most booking companies never see up close: the homes themselves, the turnover process, the needs of homeowners, the expectations of guests, and the realities of keeping vacation rentals running smoothly during a busy Maine summer.
Along the way, she also developed a linen rental service that continues to support guests, owners, and vacation properties today. That background is a major part of what makes Tamarack different. It is not just about taking reservations. It is about knowing what needs to happen before guests arrive, during their stay, and after they leave.

Many of the relationships Alison has with homeowners today began years ago through her earlier businesses and have continued over time. Those long-standing connections matter.

Carrying the Tamarack Legacy Forward
Tamarack Rentals was established and successfully operated for more than 40 years by Skip and Carol Radin.
When Alison purchased the company, the goal was never to erase what made Tamarack special. The goal was to carry that legacy forward while strengthening the business with updated systems, improved communication, stronger marketing, and a more modern guest experience.
Skip and Carol still stop in from time to time, and their continued presence is part of what makes Tamarack’s story so special. The company has changed and grown, but the heart of it remains local, personal, and rooted in community.

A Business Supported by Family, Loyalty and Hard Work
Beyond the business itself, Alison is most proud of raising two daughters on her own while working hard to build a career and create a stable future for her family.
Today, both daughters are thriving in their twenties. One is a married attorney, and the other is attending nursing school while working in a busy emergency room and building a life with her longtime boyfriend.
Although they now have careers and busy lives of their own, family still remains part of Tamarack Rentals. Her daughters continue to help from time to time whenever needed.
Her son-in-law is also a valued part of the operation, often spending Saturdays at the office and out running around during the busy season helping wherever he is needed.
Alison’s boyfriend is another steady source of support, often stepping in to help put out fires, solve unexpected issues, assist with property needs, and lend a hand when things get hectic.
Tamarack Rentals is not a large corporate company. It is a true local family-supported business built on relationships, loyalty, resilience, and people showing up for one another.

Alison has been inside countless homes throughout the area, handled busy turnover days, worked with local vendors, helped solve last-minute issues, and built relationships across the coastal communities Tamarack serves.
That experience cannot be copied by a large booking site. It comes from years of showing up, doing the work, and caring about the people on both sides of every reservation.
A Little More Personal
Angel, the Office Angel
Angel is Alison and Brent’s dog—and from the moment she came home last July, she made it clear she belonged.
She’s a beautiful dog with a calm, steady presence—the kind that settles into a space and makes it feel complete. Incredibly well-behaved and easygoing, she somehow manages to be both low-key and completely in charge at the same time. And like any dog who’s truly loved, she’s absolutely spoiled—especially by Brent, who is without question her favorite person in the world.
Angel splits her time between the office and the job sites, often riding along with Brent to construction jobs, quietly keeping him company throughout the day. Whether she’s on-site or stretched out nearby while work is happening around her, she’s always right where she wants to be.
But beyond that, Angel has become something more. She’s been a steady presence through long days, busy seasons, and some very trying times—a source of comfort, protection, and grounding when it mattered most.
There’s a quiet strength in her—something constant and reassuring, even in the middle of everything else. Behind the full schedules, the pressure, and the pace of running a hands-on business, Angel is a reminder of what doesn’t change: loyalty, resilience, and unconditional love.
